Where's my Obamacare?

Step-by-step guide to modern medicine:

1) Nobody accepts new patients with my health insurance except the Doctor Factory

2) Said Doctor Factory shuffles you between 8 different physicians in 3 different medical offices.

3) When you call the Doctor Factory for a prescription refill you will leave messages at the three different locations for the 8 different physicians.

4) You will wait a week. No one will call you back. Instead, the receptionists will listen to your tale of strife and hang up on you, repeatedly

5) No prescriptions.

6) Die.

where is my Obamacare?

this elicits too much rage. too much rage

The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is threatening to end its social services contract with the city if the DC Council leagalizes same-sex marriage. “It is our concern that the committee’s narrowing of the religious exemption language will cause the government to discontinue our long partnership with them and open up the agency to litigation and the use of resources to defend our religious beliefs rather than serve the poor,” said Edward Orzechowski, president/CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. Catholic Charities serves 68,000 people in the city each year. The city’s 40 Catholic parishes operate another 93 social service programs to provide crucial services. Via WaPo

Great, great, that’s the way to do it. Catholic charities are just gonna be like “Cya sick, poor people. Good luck, have fun with the gays.” I’m always reminded of these types of Catholics. The ones intimidating and lying to patients outside of Planned Parenthood clinics. The ones who would rather take away adoption and foster services and services to the poor, sick and in-need than recognize same-sex marriages. Leviticus als said, “no hair cuts” but I guess we are skipping that one. This was not the Catholicism I was raised with.

In the words of Dorothy Day, founder of the Catholic Worker Movement. “The greatest challenge of the day is: how to bring about a revolution of the heart, a revolution which has to start with eat one of us?” (ht icanseenewyorkcityfrommyhouse) Hey, DC Catholics: have some heart <3

“Despite an increasingly sexualized youth culture, the desire for romance among teenage girls has remained, said Mike Farrell, a partner at Toronto youth research firm Youthography. “There are some fundamental things that haven’t changed that much. And one of those, especially with girls, is the focus on a search for meaningful love that is hopeful, passionate, real,” he said. According to Youthography research, only a quarter of young teenage girls were interested in sex, while more than half said they thought about marriage and having children.”

“Lack of sex attracts teen girls to Twilight series”
AKA, more bullshit about teenage sexuality based on stereotypes and bad research.

Yeah, if you’re basing a study on romance/love and sex being somehow mutually exclusive you need your PhD revoked.

What the fuck is wrong with this study cohort, that TWICE AS MANY of them are interested in marriage than are in sex?

Also, raise your hand if you find it problematic that this incredibly biased bullshit study reinforces “girls just want sexless romance and boys just want unromantic sex” which is one of the reason why so many men and women grow up unable to have functional bonds and instead reduce one another to stereotypes.

Also let’s not even take into account that girls seem to want to “have babies” but are “not interested in sex”. These girls are clearly confused.

The Good Ol’ Menstrual Cycle Explained
Menstrual cycles can be baffling, and that’s why I really want to make a special poster explaining this special time of the month, mostly so I can justify to my poor husband exactly why I am feeling totally insane. “It’s not me, honey, it’s the progesterone spiking,” or, “Can you understand now why I’m being a total bee-yatch? I’ve got at least five different hormones coursing through my body right now. I’m on drugs.” Marvel at the leutenizing hormone! Be amazed as the estrogen takes a nosedive right before ovulation! Check out the egg as it takes its long journey through your reproductive system! Anyway, check it out and give me feedback — calling all OB/GYNs! Editors! Anatomy nuts! Sex educators! — before I send this thing to the printer. I know it’s a little crazy-looking, design-wise, but then again, so’s the menstrual cycle.

Whoa, dude, you worked at WBAR? When? I was on exec staff for all of college!

2003-2006, I think I had 3 different variations of a show, all revolving around terrible, terrible music. Ditto on 1020, I can’t even count the hours I wasted in those booths.
