I wish the same people who loudly speak out against vaccines were also just as loud against antibiotics, clean water, elevators, and hyperlinks.
The vast majority of vaccines are some of the greatest inventions humans have ever known. Just ask the last person to die of smallpox. Or that 13 year old healthy kid who died of H1N1 yesterday. They’d probably wish they received a vaccine. People who have little understanding of science, epidemiology, and the transmission of disease need to study how kick ass it is we don’t have to worry about smallpox or polio anymore.
Thank you D.A. Henderson.

Helmut Newton’s 1952 portrait of Laurel Martyn
“British artist Stephen Wiltshire is currently attempting to draw the Manhattan skyline from memory. since Monday October 26th. Wiltshire began filling in an 18 foot canvas at the Pratt institute, Brooklyn. The drawing is expected to be complete by Friday. You can follow his progress through the live webcam here.
Wiltshire diagnosed with autism at the age of three displays an unusually powerful
photographic memory that he has applied to rendering city scapes. He can look at the subject of his drawing once and reproduce it accurately with photographic detail, down to the exact number of columns or windows on a building. He memorizes their shapes, locations and the architecture.”
“ I bet as the media begins to interview the onlookers (for the lack of a better less profane word) they will claim that it appeared consensual(sp.) and that they had no idea what was happening beyond this drunk party chick acting as a pinata. I imagine that people will analyze the situation with words like “mob mentality”. Everyone will shake their heads and wonder why. They’ll try to remove the responsibility from the onlookers and there’ll be warnings to young girls about drinking and going to parties and making out with young men. And someone will inevitabley suggest that there is more to the story and of course that she wanted it and is crying rape to cover it up. But no-one will say “what is happening to our boys?” or “Boys need to stop drinking and partying” or “Boys need to understand NO” or “Boys and Men need to take responsibility for themselves and their sexual behaviour. ”

“Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that work is performed entirely by young men. For this reason girls are not considered for the training school.”

I took a walk around my neighborhood yesterday afternoon and happened upon “Capitalsaurus Court”
“Capitalsaurus” is the informal name given to a genus of dinosaur from North America. Its fossils were discovered in Washington, DC. It was a theropod (meat-eating dinosaur), and it lived during the Cretaceous. It is a nomen nudum, having never been formally described.
“Capitalsaurus” fossils were discovered in January of 1898 at the intersection of First and F Streets S.E., in the District of Columbia - an intersection now designated as Capitalsaurus Court. These fossils were not uncovered by any paleontological activity, but as a by-product of sewer work.
The “Capitalsaurus” is the official dinosaur of the District of Columbia.

Most of today has been spent trying to distinguish between tetrahedral and tetragonal. Which one did I just read? Which one do I mean? Is there any difference?
